Federation Square

Federation Square is the heart of the Melbourne, Victoria area. We are a world-class public space that’s home to a diverse range of arts, cultural and public events.

We want Fed Square to be a place that everyone can enjoy. As a result, we’re investing in our people and culture so we can create experiences that are as diverse and inclusive as the community within our walls.

Fed Square is home to some of Melbourne’s most iconic events including the Royal Exhibition Building, the National Gallery of Victoria and the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art. We also host contemporary exhibitions across our five galleries as well as free public talks, workshops and performances.

Fed Square is also an important civic space – a place where people can meet, deliberate, protest or simply be entertained in a beautiful outdoor setting with incredible views over the river.

Federation Square is a world-class and award-winning venue that is the heart of Melbourne’s vibrant culture and creative industries.

Featuring architecture by Lab Architecture Studio, Federation Square is a unique and striking venue with a rich history to explore.

Federation Square is home to the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI), National Gallery of Victoria (NGV), Victorian College of the Arts (VCA) – all of which have played an integral role in Melbourne’s cultural scene over years.

Fed Square brings culture to life with its vibrant public events, restaurants, gardens, bars, cafes and riverside location. Home to Melbourne’s biggest New Year’s Eve fireworks display – Fed Square sets a new standard for live performance venues in Victoria.

Fed Square is a centre for creativity and innovation, arts and cultural festivals, gorgeous gardens and river access.

A venue for arts, culture and public events, Fed Square is the heart of Melbourne’s creative life. Live music on the steps, film screenings by the river, exhibitions in the galleries – you name it.

Experiencing Fed Square is not just about admiring the architecture or being entertained – it’s also about taking part. Shopping at the Market Place? Grab a bite to eat? Catch a live performance? All part of your day out with us!

The gardens are Fed Square’s green lung – a place to escape, relax or meet friends. They’re home to native wildlife including kangaroos and koalas as well as providing some surprising views over Melbourne’s skyline.
